For teachers, visual aids and illustrations are the best way to get children to understand information or material. This page gives a few visuals to help children get an idea of how art surrounds them in every day life. Using the elements of art, I made some fun and interactive posters that can be used in the classroom..
Shape and Form Poster
Intent for poster:
To convey the concept of shape and form I used vocabulary, definitions ( on the flip side of the paper), and examples to illustrate the different types of shapes there are.
Classroom:
In the classroom you could use this as a concrete example to show children the differences between
shape and form. It can also be used as a reminder for students to learn and identify shapes.

Color Poster
Intent of poster:
Using the theme color , I thought I would apply it to younger children. I used a tree full of color with a boy playing ball. The imagery of colors represent a type of color in some way. Such as cool colors (green),warm colors (yellow),and secondary colors (orange). The intermediate colors and analogous colors are represented in the roots to demonstrate the variety or mix of colors that the tree offers.
Classroom:
This would be used in the classroom as a colorful demonstration of how to view the color wheel and the variety of colors. I would also use this as an example for students to use as a guide when trying to practice making color wheels.

Texture Poster
Intent of poster:
Using texture, I wanted to use high quality examples to demonstrate what texture is. Using a variety of material and text I gave definitions of implied and actual texture along with examples of different types of textures(soft, hard, smooth, and rough). To go even further I made a baggy that was full of different kinds of textures.
Classroom:
I could use this in my classroom by passing it around (especially the bag of textures) so that students can understand how different textures have different feelings.

Space Poster
Intent of poster:
For this poster I used a more visual approach to show different aspects of space. The larger flower represents the definitions of each term ( negative space, positive space, overlapping, perspective, size variation, and composition). Perspective, overlapping, and size variation is found in the lettering and in the flowers. The positive space is found within the lettering and the negative space is found in the background of the lettering.

Line Poster
Intent of poster:
To illustrate the concept of line, I used visual detailing to demonstrate the concept. This poster has visual elements that illustrate the characteristics of line (width, length, direction, focus, and feeling) and types of lines (outline, contour line, gesture line, implied line).
Classroom:
As a teacher, I would use this poster in the classroom as a visual aid for students to understand the types and characteristics of line. I would also have them find where each type of line is to make sure they have a good understanding of the material ( understanding lines).
